Lions in Grass 1926 - B273.1
At the request of Carl Akeley and the American Natural History Museum, the Johnsons spent months in the Banaga Hill region, commonly known as "Lion Valley." Martin captured thousands of feet of film footage that would be used to produce their second Hollywood feature, "Simba: King of the Beasts." Released in January, 1928, "Simba" still astonishes viewers with some of the most spectacular images of Africa's people and wildlife. Filmed over a four year span between 1924 and 1927, the movie contains highlights of the Johnsons' second trip to Africa and their efforts..."to film an authentic record of the life of the lion"
