108357 Osa Johnson Playing Ukulele Along the Kinabatangan River, North Borneo 1920
$10.95
Osa Leighty had played the ukulele on theater stages in Kansas years before she met Martin Johnson. She was so talented at it & singing that after their elopement, she joined Martin on the Vaudeville Circuit and performed in theaters & entertainment venues around the US, Canada and Great Britain. It was these funds that made the core of the savings account that allowed the Johnsons---after seven years of circuit work---to head off on the first of what eventually totaled nine global expeditions. This is the best portrait of Osa performing while on expedition.
