Osa Johnson and Vern Carstens Unloading Supplies from Plane 1933 -G970
On earlier expeditions, the Johnsons didn't have the luxury of running to the store when supplies ran out. This all changed in 1933, during their Cape Town to Cairo flying safari, when they added two airplanes to their list of camp equipment. Vern Carstens, their pilot, routinely flew from their camp at N'Gornet in the remote frontier to Nairobi to replenish their supplies.
