Shilluk Men Rowing Dugout on Nile 1927 - B21

The Kingdom of Shilluk resides on the west bank of the Nile. This photograph was obtained as the Johnsons travled up the Nile from Port Said to Northern Uganda. George Eastman, the Johnsons' friend and financial sponsor, had hired a steamer somewhat similar to a Mississippi riverboat for that leg of their expedition.
