Martin couldn't pass up snapping this charming scene of a real bird strutting in front of their metal flying machines. In this modern world we picture the two Sikorsky's flying from the east coast of North America to the continent of Africa. Not so. The planes were dismantled and loaded on the steamer, The City of New York,ending their trip in Cape Town, South Africa where they were reassembled by Vern Carstens, the Johnsons' pilot and Boris Sergievsky, of the Sikorsky Company, who had sailed with them from New York.
